Lil Herb: I'm Cool w/ White Crowd Saying the N-Word at My Shows

VladTV ran down a host of current events during a recent sit down with Chicago emcee Lil Herb, including Bree Newsome, who personally removed the Confederate flag from South Carolina's state house flagpole. The "I'm Rollin" rapper said that Newsome's actions were courageous, but Herb believes there are more serious issues like senseless killings of children and grandmothers in Chicago that aren't being widely reported.

The next topic that was approached was former Spokane NAACP president Rachel Dolezal, whom Herb wasn't as familiar with. After being told that Dolezal pretended to be Black and spoke about prejudices she received, Lil Herb was blown away by the story.

The conversation ended with the Chicago spitter sharing his thoughts on Tom Hanks' son Chet Haze defending his use of the n-word as a White person. After hearing the actor's son say, "it's an unspoken thing between friends who understand each other," Herb said that he might have a point after recalling his white friend possibly using the word around him.

Herb later clarifies that as long as a stranger isn't using the word with malicious intent, he doesn't see a huge problem with the usage. When asked about White people singing along to the n-words in his songs at shows, the Chicago spitter said that he doesn't have a problem with it.

He explained, "That's why I make music, for people to embrace it. I'm not racist, I'm an artist."

I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation. "I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain't that easy," he continued. "I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting for me and this album. But thank you." A Cash Money representative did
