It's been a decade since T-Pain released his debut album, Rappa Ternt Singa, and the Tallahassee native spoke about his influence, including how he feels Kanye's 808s & Heartbreaks, was a direct copy of his debut album.
When asked about the album's sound staying relevant the Florida spitter told Billboard, "I would say as recent as [Kanye West's] 808s & Heartbreaks, which was a direct copy of Rappa Ternt Sanga." T-Pain explained, "I'm not just being a d*** saying that s*** sounds a lot like mine. Like literally [Kanye] told me that he listened to Rappa Ternt Sanga and he made 808s & Heartbreaks. He even brought me in to make it sound more like Rappa Ternt Sanga."
Before adding that the influence of his album is "never going to stop," T-Pain said that "Something that I did that was directly copied got so many awards -- that's evidence right there. Rappa Ternt Sanga is still relevant because the sound is still prevalent in the whole industry."
Tyga recently released his latest project, "The Gold Album," on Spotify, SoundCloud, and YouTube for free due to his conflicts with YMCMB, so the rapper was shocked that he was getting criticism over album sales. The L.A.-born emcee took to Twitter to respond to Complex writing a story about how Nielsen SoundScan showed the album selling a mere 2,200 copies. Tyga said that he didn't even intend to make money off of the project and added, "Yall mfs is funny. I put my album out myself for free on spotify, soundcloud, YouTube to stream. Didn't plan on selling it Kuz of label problems. It's a dope album. Got a lot of great feedback and millions of streams."
